Is God Partial?

"
Special prayers and offerings at the Sree Krishna Temple in Guruvayur on Thursday(July 14 2006)marked the beginning of purification rituals for the Sabarimala Temple.
The process is being followed in view of the claim made by Kannada actress Jayamala that she had entered the sanctum sanctorum of the hill shrine and touched the idol of Lord Ayyappa. Now the Parihara Kriyas or remedial measures will be held in 50 temples across Kerala and would be completed within two years.
"

Does GOD really doesn't want women from entering temples. People here are just mad.
Same people say that GOD is 'just' and treats everyone equally. Did GOD change his mind anytime for them. These people act to be very holy and do crazy things in name of Him.
'Womenhood' is thought to be the Godly feature. Then why discriminate women.
In this regard i would surely support women.
And why are muslim women not allowed into the mosques. They are not given same rights as their counter-parts.WHY?

I want all women to ask 'WHY?' against this discrimination.
Its high time they fight for these fundamental rights rather than fighting for 33% reservation.

NO! I think he is rational. He keeps sorrow inside hapiness camaflaged. Its up to the individual 2 say.

And reg the jayamala issue....
I happened to meet with a kerala nambuthiri...
He said according to the nambuthiri code of worship, Man's concentration depends on the proximity to the women....

That was said a long way back.
Now things are different. We boys have mastered to concentrate n do our work even when da girls r around......

Men and Women Both are creations of GOD .Is it not? Then where comes the word descrimination?
"Is womenhood not holy?" Can anyone define whats holy and whats not holy?
If we can just think for a minute i think we can very well get an answer to this? Everything is in the state of mind.
All these misconceptions have been set up by humans and being followed by them. Theres no point blaming GOD as its purely the mistake of Human race.

I didn't mean to blame it on God, i wanted to say how humans have belief of mis-conceptions.

Sorry Nishi, I don agree to it...

I very much support the concept (or the ideology) of equlity of the gender.

But there are certain issues on which we can not decide., we are not aware of the facts.

It is not the question of women entering a temple such as Sabarimala!!!., I can give you instances where women are considered superior to men. Even you would agree to it.

Do not mix up religion, society and profession.
Profession is an entity of todays world, which is refined. It is refined society.
Society was of yesteryears, which exists today.(we fight for the rights today). It was the mastermind of a few irrational men., who wished to be superior and they succeded.
Religion is something which we can not question., we have no idea of its existance. I mean to say we have no exact answer to it.

Please do not give much hype to these things, discussing issues such as this would for sure create discrimination in the society and the professional life too.

Ankit your comments really make lot of sense.
I think we should leave the religion and rituals as it is.

Hey nishi, I would like to make another point...

I feel, the statements of sameera contradict!!!!

She says "men and women are equal!!!".

And then she says "Is womenhood not holy?" .

I am not able to figure out... which side is she favoring of the three.

I consider the proponents of purification of garbagraha of the Sabarimala temple as involuntary and ignorant opponents of Hinduism.

Before I elaborate on the reasons or before a fatwa is issued against me for acute blasphemy I wish to aver that I am a staunch believer in the Lord. I come from a family that makes it a point to administer the Ayappa Swamy ghee as the first antidote to any illness. Medicines come next. But setting aside this emotional quotient, it is important to do some rational spiritual analysis.

In Bhagavad Gita, Param-atman Krishna says body is just a cloth. Soul or the atma passes on from one body to another. The verse that states this is chapter 2 verse 22 of Srimad Bhagavatam– “ sarirani vihaya jirnany anyani samyati navani dehi“. Soul takes on the cloth of man in one life, cloth of a dog in the next, cloth of a woman in the next, cloth of a donkey in the next and so on till moksha is obtained. This is called as "dehantara-praptir" (Chapter 2 - Verse 13). God always relates with the soul. God is not interested in the cloth, implying he does not care if the soul offering him prayers is a man or a woman or a cow. (This is the reason that vegeterianism is proposed by Hinduism) He is equal to all as He resides in every soul. So the proponents of this cleansing just because the soul that came into the garbagraha was a female, either believe that words spoken by Param-atman Sri Krishna is wrong and have a value of dirt or accept that they were proposing the cleansing just because the rituals have traditionally been followed and is a part of our culture.

This is where a purely rational analysis comes to our help. Indian tradition is so complex that we confuse certain entities. (Belief), (culture/tradition/rituals), (superstitions/practices that have to be discouraged) are three entities that have to be clearly demarcated.

I believe in the Lord. I do not believe in astrology – is my belief. It is a personal opinion that I hold. It does not hurt anybody. People have the right to disagree with me if they think otherwise.

Tradition/ritual/culture is something that we have historically followed that does not hurt anybody. Drawing kolams in front of the houses is tradition. The Sabarimala mudi suttu and the celibacy and vegetarian fast before the ascent to the hills is a tradition. It is a personal choice that precedes, accompanies or follows an event or a time pattern. Importantly it does not hurt anybody.

Superstition is something that strives to marginalize a particular section of a society. It affects a certain group/community/sect. Sati was a superstition. People from lower castes / women denied access to temples is a superstition.

But the problem with our society is people push a lot of things from this category into one of the above two categories. Stopping that would help improve the society as a whole.

I saw a friend say about ‘concentration’ of men. My question to him is – “Do you think Tirupati, Siddhivinayak(Lord Ganesh is also a bachelor), Kasi Vishwanth temple or the Vaishno Devi temple that allow both men and women don’t give importance to the concentration factor? Are they then inferior in quality when compared to Sabarimala? If they can allow both forms of the souls why not Sabarimala?” And this concept of abstaining women from Sabarimala is like our good old reservation system. Attacking the branch when the problem is at root. If I had been in Prabhus place I would have asked the Nambuthri this question - "If men lack concentration dont you think it is the men who have to be abstained from temple? What crap are you talking?"
concentration then it is men who have to stopped.

No Nishi, you said you agree that rituals should be left as such. I strongly disagree. We should drive the crap out of these superstitions. 100 years ago people considered crossing the oceans a sin and a loss of caste . Today anybody gives a wink to that? Dont we think it is foolish that something of this sort existed? It was made possible because people opposed it. The onus is on us now to oppose such nonsense. We have to be very vocal against such practices.

If the Devaswom board keeps harping that it is Gods wish that females do not enter into the temple without any rationale then I personally feel they are absolute fools who just are blind to certain truths.

So if any proponents of the theory think I have erred in my analysis feel free to tear apart my comments with your criticisms.

And if you think Vidya is a female because of these comments you are wrong. I am a guy - VidyaShankar Manoharan :)

Vidya, First of all i would like to thank you for putting a serious thought on this subject.
it is good to know few good things from Bhagavad Gita.
Vidya, even i say that it is high time we acted against such superstitions.
